Infrared Therapy For Neuropathy Healing The Damaged Nerves

Dec 19

Neuropathy is a common condition that can affect people of any age or gender. It is caused by many factors including diabetes, autoimmune disorders, infections, alcoholism, vitamin deficiencies, trauma and more. It can lead to pain, sensory loss and motor dysfunction that drastically reduces one’s quality of life. However, there is a non-invasive treatment that has been shown to relieve neuropathic pain and restore function called infrared therapy for neuropathy.

Unlike traditional medications that treat only the symptoms, infrared therapy for neuropathy treats the root cause of the neuropathic pain by promoting healing of the damaged nerves. It has also been found to increase circulation, stimulate cellular energy production and improve the functioning of the nervous system. This is what makes it an effective solution to use for anyone dealing with chronic neuropathic pain and the debilitating symptoms that go along with it.

Studies have shown that the wavelengths of red and near-infrared light can promote pain relief, increase blood flow, accelerate bone healing, boost collagen and elastin production, and reduce inflammation and oxidative stress. The best devices for neuropathic pain are ones that offer both red and near-infrared light to maximize treatment efficacy.

The light-sensitive chemical in these receptors is called TrkB and is triggered by certain nerve stimuli such as injury, infection or disease. By injecting the chemical and then blasting it with near-infrared light, researchers were able to trigger these nerves in mice to retract from their surface so they would be less likely to be triggered by future stimuli. This lowered the intensity of the neuropathic pain and improved the mice’s ability to walk, move and feel sensations again.

Light therapy also increases nitric oxide in the blood vessels and allows more oxygen to reach the injured nerves, which promotes healing. Nitric oxide is a key component of the body’s natural defenses against pain and inflammation.

Patients who suffer from neuropathic pain are often eager to try anything that might help. Unfortunately, many of the available drugs and supplements provide little to no pain relief. Even when they do, these solutions are primarily focused on treating the symptoms and not the underlying problem. Fortunately, alternative natural treatments such as massage and infrared therapy have been proven to provide effective relief of neuropathic pain. In fact, the results from these natural therapies may take some time to show up as damaged cells need to regenerate. However, these drug-free home remedies have been shown to be more effective than other conventional neuropathic pain treatments such as opioids. The good news is that these solutions can be safely used by any patient without risking addiction or other side effects.
